Alas! and Did my Savior Bleed

 

웬말인가 날 위하여

 

1. 웬 말인가 날 위하여
주 돌아가셨나
이 벌레 같은 날 위해
큰 해 받으셨나

2. 내 지은 죄 다 지시고
못 박히셨으니
웬일인가 웬 은혠가
그 사랑 크셔라

3. 주 십자가 못 박힐 때
그 해도 빛 잃고
그 밝은 빛 가리워서
캄캄케 되었네

4. 나 십자가 대할 때에
그 일이 고마워
내 얼굴 감히 못 들고
눈물 흘리도다

5. 늘 울어도 눈물로써
못 갚을 줄 알아
몸 밖에 드릴 것 없어
이 몸 바칩니다

Alas! and Did my Savior Bleed

 

1.A-las! and did my Sav-ior bleed,
And did my Sov-ereign die?
Would He de-vote that sa-cred head
For such a worm as I?

2.Was it for crimes that I have done,
He suf-fered on the tree?
A-maz-ing pit-y! grace un-known!
And love be-yond de-gree!

3.Well might the sun in dark-ness hide,
And shut His glo-ries in,
When Christ, the migh-ty Mak-er, died
For man, the crea-ture's sin.

4.Thus might I hide my blush-ing face
While His dear cross ap-pears;
Dis-solve my heart in thank-ful-ness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.

5.But drops of grief can ne'er re-pay
The debt of love I owe!
Here, Lord, I give my-self a-way;
'Tis all that I can do.
